I love technology enthusiasts who write about unreleased and unannounced product. Most of the time the guesses are just so far wrong that the joy of reading other people’s thoughts would lead to some great product – if only manufacturers would read these guesses. Other times, I’m amazed how close people come to the actual product.
Apple’s Tablet or E-book reader or iSlate has made its round on the web. The iSlate moniker is a great guess – almost. In fact, I was prepared to add an iSlate forum to Technology Questions until I started snooping around and thinking about trademarks.
Now, another writer mentioned that trademarks must be protected (sorry for not linking but I didn’t bookmark the post from a few days ago). Regardless, this line of thinking is reasonable.
Apple would want to protect its trademark – and make sure no one was squatting or using iSlate. Interestingly, iSlate.org exists and does not belong to Apple. Would Apple lawyers be in contact with these people before a product announcement or would they let it ride?
I was almost sold on the name until I saw this site. What do you think?
